Yon Park, Transportation for Prostitution, Pennsylvania 2011
A disturbing case out of Altoona, Pennsylvania, has landed a Georgia woman in hot water. Yon Park, 61, of Suwanee, Georgia, has been sentenced to three years probation with home detention for the first ten months on her conviction of transportation for illegal sexual activity.
The sentencing, handed down by United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson, stems from a February 14, 2011 incident in which Park, then owner of The SunSet Health Spa, caused an individual to be transported in interstate or foreign commerce with the intent that such individual engage in prostitution or any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted this case on behalf of the government, working tirelessly to bring Park to justice.
U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, and the Pennsylvania State Police for their investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Park.
