Pierre, SD – In a shocking turn of events, Jayme Lee Rivers, also known as Jayme Lee Two Crow, has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison for failure to register as a sex offender, according to a recent press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Rivers, 44, was sentenced on April 15, 2024, by Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange, U.S. District Court, after being found guilty of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
The case against Rivers began in December 2023 when he was indicted by a federal grand jury. He pleaded guilty on February 29, 2024, and was subsequently sentenced.
Rivers was charged with failing to update his sex offender registration after being kicked out of a homeless shelter in Rapid City in April 2023. He had registered the shelter as his primary address but failed to update his registration after moving to Dupree in late August 2023.
As part of his sentence, Rivers will also serve four months in a residential re-entry center, five years of supervised release, and must pay a special assessment of $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities across the country.
The U.S. Marshals Service investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Carl Thunem prosecuting the case.
Rivers was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after being sentenced.
