GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Three men from the Mahoning Valley are facing federal charges after being caught with illegal firearms, authorities report.
Darryl L. Lee, 25, Alex C. Green, 28, and Whittington R. Davis, 27, all of Youngstown, Ohio, were indicted on one count of being felons in possession of firearms and ammunition, according to Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
The charges are unrelated. Lee, Green, and Davis each had previous convictions that disqualified them from possessing firearms: Lee for aggravated assault, Green for felonious assault, and Davis for possession of cocaine.
Lee was caught with a Kel-Tec PF-9 pistol and ammunition on January 30, 2014; Green was apprehended with a Raven Arms .25 caliber pistol, a DPMS .223 caliber rifle, and ammunition on February 18, 2014; Davis was in possession of a Bryco Arms .380 caliber pistol and ammunition on February 1, 2014.
The investigations were led by the ATF, with local law enforcement including Youngstown Police, Campbell Police, and Warren Police contributing. Assistant United States Attorney David M. Toepfer is handling the prosecution.
Conviction sentences will be determined by the court based on unique case factors, but will not exceed the statutory maximums.
