Teqwan Scott, Fentanyl Distribution, Ohio 2021

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Teqwan Scott, a 29-year-old resident of Youngstown, Ohio, has been hit with an overwhelming plea for his involvement in the distribution of fentanyl and its deadly derivative, fluorofentanyl.

The guilty plea comes after a year-long investigation that spanned from May 2021 to October 2022. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today that Scott stood before Senior United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab, acknowledging his role in the conspiracy to distribute at least 40 grams of fentanyl and 10 grams of fluorofentanyl.

Judge Schwab has set the sentencing for October 1, 2024. If convicted, Scott could be looking at a minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison. The legal limit also includes a fine that can reach $5 million or a combination of both penalties.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is handling the prosecution for the U.S. government. Meanwhile, the investigation leading to Scott’s conviction was a collaborative effort among several law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, United States Postal Inspection Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Lawrence County Drug Task Force, Mercer County Drug Task Force, New Castle Police Department, Sharon Police Department, and Pennsylvania State Police.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against the fentanyl epidemic that has plagued our nation. Scott’s plea underscores the severity of penalties associated with drug trafficking, particularly when it involves substances like fentanyl, which have been linked to numerous overdose deaths across the country.
