Aberdeen, South Dakota – On February 20, 2022, in Little Eagle, within the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation, Yukon Oris Henry, 46, unlawfully assaulted his domestic partner, causing her substantial bodily injury.
Hughes County records show Henry was previously convicted of at least two prior domestic violence crimes in Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court.
Henry was indicted for Domestic Assault by an Habitual Offender by a federal grand jury in May of 2022. He pleaded guilty on September 12, 2022.
On December 5, 2022, U.S. District Court Judge Charles B. Kornmann sentenced Henry to 30 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, Standing Rock Agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook prosecuted the case.
Henry was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
