⏱ 2 min read

In a shocking case of child sexual exploitation, Kemp Jermaine Nelson, a 33-year-old man from Newport News, Virginia, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for abusing a 15-year-old runaway and posting a video of the abuse online. The horrific crime occurred in February 2024, when Nelson engaged in sex with the minor and recorded the act. He then posted the disturbing content on social media, further exploiting the victim.

The FBI’s Norfolk Field Office launched an investigation into Nelson’s activities, and on September 17, 2025, agents searched his residence. During the search, Nelson attempted to downplay his involvement, claiming to be a “content creator” and “porn star.” However, the evidence against him was overwhelming, and he was subsequently charged with production of child sexual abuse material.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter G. Osyf as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project, launched in 2006, brings together federal, state, and local resources to identify and prosecute individuals who exploit children online and to rescue victims.

Nelson’s sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the need to protect children from exploitation and abuse. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the community in preventing and prosecuting child sexual exploitation.
