Jesus Diaz, Child Exploitation, Virginia 2024

⏱ 2 min read

A 25-year-old Danville, Virginia man, Jesus Diaz, has been arrested and charged with 12 felony counts related to child exploitation, including producing and distributing child sexual abuse material, cyberstalking, and extortion. The charges stem from incidents in March 2024, where a 17-year-old Idaho girl reported being extorted for sexually explicit images and videos by an individual known as ‘Xavier’. An investigation by the Idaho Office of the Attorney General and the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) linked the online activities to Diaz, who was arrested in New Mexico on April 16, 2026.

According to court documents, the victim, who was 14 at the time, had sent nude images to ‘Xavier’ via social media, and he later threatened to send those images to her family, friends, and church members if she didn’t continue communicating with him and send more explicit content. The investigation found that Diaz would be returning to the US, leading to his arrest in New Mexico.

Diaz is scheduled to make his initial court appearance in the Western District of Virginia on May 15, 2026. The charges against him include two counts of making extortive threats to injure the reputation of a minor, one count of distribution of child sexual abuse material, one count of cyberstalking of a minor, four counts of production of child sexual abuse material, and four counts of enticement of a minor.

The case highlights the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to combat child exploitation and cyberstalking. The Department of Homeland Security’s HSI played a crucial role in tracking down Diaz and bringing him to justice.
