A 55-year-old Akron man, Robert Parham, has been sentenced to 20.5 years in prison for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking operation in Akron, Ohio. The investigation, which began in late 2023, uncovered a massive stash of illicit substances, including methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl, as well as 28 firearms and over $1,900 in cash. Parham pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, and was designated a career offender due to his prior convictions. The case was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), with assistance from the FBI Akron Resident Agency and the Akron Police Department.
On July 2, 2024, law enforcement executed a federal search warrant at Parham’s apartment, where they seized 178 grams of methamphetamine, 142 grams of cocaine, and 355 grams of fentanyl, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia, including plastic baggies, a digital scale, and kilo presses. The search also turned up 28 firearms, including two stolen firearms, one of which was outfitted with an attached machine gun conversion device.
Parham’s prior convictions, which date back to 1995, include aggravated trafficking in drugs, trafficking in cocaine, and complicity to commit burglary. His latest conviction has resulted in a sentence of 247 months in prison, which he will serve after pleading guilty to the charges in March.
The investigation and prosecution of Parham’s case demonstrate the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking in Ohio. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joseph P. Dangelo for the Northern District of Ohio.
