Donald Robert Wilt Edwards, Sr., a 30-year-old West Virginia man, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually exploiting a 3-year-old minor in Baltimore, Maryland. The abuse occurred in June 2024, while Edwards still lived in Baltimore. He produced and distributed images and a video of the abuse using the Kik messaging application and possessed other child sexual abuse material on his devices and social media accounts.

In December 2024, investigators executed a search warrant at Edwards’ Elkins, West Virginia, residence, seizing multiple electronic devices. The investigation uncovered additional child sexual abuse material on Edwards’ devices and in his social media accounts.

The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Edwards was indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2025 and sentenced by U.S. District Judge Julie R. Rubin.

The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes for the District of Maryland, along with the FBI Baltimore Field Office, Baltimore Police Department, and West Virginia State Police. The agencies worked together to bring Edwards to justice and hold him accountable for his heinous crimes.
