Jacob Michael Young, a 25-year-old senior airman in the US Air Force, has pleaded guilty to distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) while stationed at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Between November 2024 and January 2025, Young uploaded approximately 56 suspected CSAM files to Kik Messenger, a messaging app. The FBI tracked the IP address associated with the Kik accounts to Young’s residence at Joint Base Andrews.
The FBI received four CyberTips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led to the execution of a search warrant at Young’s residence. During questioning, Young admitted to messaging with other Kik users about exchanging CSAM and sometimes paying for it using gift cards or money sent via CashApp. A forensic analysis of Young’s devices revealed more than 200 CSAM files.
As part of his plea agreement, Young faces 3.5 to 10 years in federal prison. US District Judge Paula Xinis has scheduled sentencing for September 8. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sex abuse.
The investigation was led by the FBI Baltimore Field Office, with US Attorney Kelly O. Hayes announcing the guilty plea. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution of child sex abuse material and protect vulnerable victims.
