A 32-year-old Oswego County man is facing serious time for poisoning his community with the synthetic stimulant known as ‘molly’. Eric Petrie admitted to distributing N,N-Dimethylpentylone to customers in and around Oswego County between January 2022 and February 2023.
Petrie, a repeat offender, obtained the molly from multiple sources, including online and in-person purchases, and then repackaged it to sell to unsuspecting buyers. His brazen scheme put countless lives at risk for a quick profit.
First Assistant US Attorney John Sarcone vowed to hold accountable those who peddle poison for profit, stating, ‘We will not tolerate those who poison our community for profit.’
Homeland Security Investigations Buffalo Special Agent in Charge Erin Keegan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that ‘Dangerous drugs have no place in our communities.’
Petrie’s sentencing is set for August 6, 2026, and he faces a maximum 20-year prison term, a $1 million fine, and a term of supervised release of at least 3 years and up to life.
