FRESNO, CA – In a massive law enforcement operation codenamed ‘Operation Shock Collar,’ 38 members and associates of the Bulldogs street gang were charged in federal court for their involvement in a sprawling drug trafficking ring. The joint effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies resulted in the execution of 54 search warrants across Fresno County, leading to the arrest of 89 gang members and associates.
The Bulldog clique, which includes Huron Dog Life, Coalinga Dog Life, and San Joaquin Ruthless Perro cliques, was targeted for their role in trafficking drugs such as methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine. The investigation spanned over a year, with investigators uncovering an intricate network of drug distribution and firearm trafficking operations.
Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith emphasized the significance of the operation, stating, ‘Criminal street gangs inflict real harm on our communities by trafficking deadly drugs and firearms that destroy lives and neighborhoods.’ The operation showcases the dedication of law enforcement agencies in disrupting criminal networks and safeguarding local communities.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Siddhartha Patel highlighted the collaborative efforts involved in the investigation, stating, ‘This case highlights the power of strong partnerships at every level of law enforcement, all united in the mission to dismantle violent gangs and protect the communities we serve.’
Local officials echoed these sentiments, with Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni noting, ‘The collective work done by all law enforcement agencies in this operation will undoubtedly improve the safety and overall quality of life for residents in Fresno County, particularly those living in our smaller rural communities.’
The investigation began in February 2024 when investigators focused on the Bulldogs’ ongoing criminal activities. The complaint alleges that some gang members, even while incarcerated, orchestrated drug trafficking through smuggling operations inside jails. Narcotics were concealed within inmates’ bodies and transported through holes punctured in jail walls.
