40 Years for Sex Trafficking of a Minor
A Wilson man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for sex trafficking of a minor. William Maurice Saddler, 35, was found guilty by a federal jury in New Bern of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and of a minor.
According to court documents, Saddler began a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl and eventually forced her into prostitution. He gave her crack, took her to a migrant camp near Wilson, and made her engage in prostitution to support his crack cocaine habit.
Saddler used violence, fear, and manipulation to keep the victim in his control, and he was aided by his brother, Bobby Ray Williams Jr., and his girlfriend, Temeeka Honey. Williams also began prostituting the victim, as did Saddler’s crack cocaine dealer, Kenneth Corvon Ward, and Ward’s girlfriend, Yadyra Brown.
Ward, Honey, and Brown have all been previously convicted and sentenced in related cases. Saddler’s sentence includes 480 months’ imprisonment followed by a lifetime of supervised release.
The investigation into Saddler’s crimes was a joint effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Raleigh Police Department, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, the Wilson Police Department, and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorneys Erin C. Blondel and Eleanor Morales represented the United States in Saddler’s case.
