Johnny Lee Vann, Attempted Arson, Oklahoma 2025

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Johnny Lee Vann, a 48-year-old resident of Muskogee, has entered a guilty plea to one count of Attempted Arson in Indian Country. The crime carries a sentence of up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Vann is accused of maliciously attempting to set fire to a dwelling and placing any person’s life in jeopardy on January 4, 2025. The incident occurred within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Reservation in Muskogee County, Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the charges against Vann, who was investigated by the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Vann’s guilty plea and ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed. The sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Vann remains in custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin Gross and Dak T. Cohen representing the United States.
