Anthony Bishop, a 42-year-old man from Tonawanda, New York, has been convicted by a federal jury of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. This conviction is a significant blow to the Buffalo community, which has been plagued by cocaine-related crimes in recent years.

Bishop, who faces a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $20,000,000 fine, is currently awaiting sentencing. The conviction is the culmination of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division, under the direction of Brian R. Crowell, Special Agent in Charge.

On February 13, 2012, Bishop alerted agents to an alleged drug trafficking conspiracy transporting and distributing 50 kilograms of cocaine per month from Chicago to Buffalo. This information led to the arrest of seven defendants, all of whom have been convicted and are awaiting sentencing. However, it was later determined that Bishop was actually part of the conspiracy, and had made the initial call to law enforcement to remove possible competitors.

During the course of the investigation, agents seized over $550,000 in cash, approximately two kilos of cocaine, other drug paraphernalia, four weapons, and a Ford Mustang. This seizure of assets is a significant blow to Bishop’s operation and highlights the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to disrupt and dismantle cocaine trafficking rings.

The conviction is a testament to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement agencies in the Buffalo area. We will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
