Kevin Mark Simms, Distribution of Oxycodone, West Virginia 2017

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A Marshall County man has admitted to distributing oxycodone in the county, according to federal authorities.

Kevin Mark Simms, 63, of Moundsville, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of "Distribution of Oxycodone" in a federal court.

Simms admitted to selling oxycodone in Marshall County in October 2017.

According to court documents, Simms could face up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Marshall County Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case.

Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided over the case.

The investigation was a result of a joint effort between the Marshall County Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force and the HIDTA initiative to reduce the amount of illicit substances being distributed in the area.
