FDIC Committee Launches Independent Review into Workplace Culture

Washington D.C. — In a move aimed at addressing persistent allegations of sexual harassment and interpersonal misconduct, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has established a Special Committee to oversee an independent third-party review.

The Special Committee, formed by the FDIC Board of Directors, is tasked with providing direction and overseeing an in-depth examination of the agency’s workplace culture. The review will specifically focus on any practices that may discourage or deter employees from reporting or responding to incidents of sexual harassment and interpersonal misconduct.

“As announced previously,” the Special Committee stated, “the FDIC Board of Directors established this committee to provide direction to and oversee an independent third-party review of allegations of sexual harassment and interpersonal misconduct at the FDIC and management’s response to that harassment and misconduct.”

“The Special Committee is committed to finalizing the selection of the third-party reviewer as soon as practicable and completing the onboarding process soon thereafter,” the statement continued.

The announcement comes amidst a growing national conversation surrounding workplace culture and sexual harassment in government agencies. The FDIC’s proactive approach is seen by many as an important step towards creating a more respectful and inclusive work environment.

Media inquiries can be directed to the FDIC Media Contact, who will provide updates on the progress of the independent review.
