Troyer Tapped as Top Federal Prosecutor in Colorado
DENVER – In a move to tackle the state’s rising violent crime rate, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has appointed Bob Troyer as the new US Attorney for the District of Colorado. Troyer, a seasoned prosecutor with years of experience, will lead the federal law enforcement efforts in the state until a Senate-confirmed nominee takes the reins.
As the top federal law enforcement officer in Colorado, Troyer will focus on reducing violent crime in the state. The Colorado US Attorney’s Office is a national leader in this area, thanks in part to its work with Crime Gun Intelligence Centers and its innovative approach to reducing violent crime in high-crime regions.
Troyer’s appointment to the National Crime Gun Intelligence Governing Board is a testament to his expertise in this area. He is the first federal prosecutor to serve on this prestigious board, and his leadership will help shape the national conversation on reducing violent crime.
The Colorado US Attorney’s Office will also continue to work on rebuilding trust between communities and law enforcement, including through the prosecution of hate crimes and improving reporting of those crimes. Additionally, the Office will maintain its aggressive attack on the state-wide opioid crisis, using both criminal and civil enforcement as well as crime prevention and inmate re-entry programs.
Troyer, a Colorado native, has a diverse background that includes teaching high school English in Washington, D.C. and working as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. He graduated from Pomona College and later attended Boston College Law School. After law school, he practiced at several top law firms before joining the Colorado US Attorney’s Office in 1999.
As First Assistant US Attorney, Troyer has played a key role in shaping the Office’s policies and priorities. His appointment as US Attorney is a testament to his expertise and leadership, and he is well-positioned to tackle the state’s toughest law enforcement challenges.
In a statement, Attorney General Sessions praised Troyer’s appointment, saying, ‘Bob Troyer is a seasoned prosecutor with a deep understanding of the issues facing our communities. I have no doubt that he will be an effective leader in the fight against violent crime in Colorado.’
