In the early morning hours of November 26, 1908, a senseless disaster unfolded off the coast of Sandy Hook, New Jersey. The steel freighter Georgie, a behemoth of the White Star line, careened out of control into the lightly laden steamer Finance, sending the doomed vessel to the depths of the Atlantic. Within ten minutes, 85 passengers were plunged into the cold, unforgiving waters, and three of them, along with one crew member, were trapped beneath the waves.
