Somerset County Resident Pleads Guilty in Cocaine Ring

Johnstown, Pa. – In a gritty courtroom saga, Jamie H. Porcher, a 28-year-old resident of Winder, Pa., has admitted to his part in a major cocaine trafficking scheme that spanned over a year.

Porcher pleaded guilty before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson to one count of conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of cocaine, according to United States Attorney David J. Hickton.

The court heard that Porcher’s criminal activities took place between November 2011 and July 18, 2012. He now faces a severe penalty, with the law allowing for a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both.

Scheduled for December 3, 2013, at 11 a.m., Porcher’s sentencing hearing is poised to mark the end of this dark chapter. Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., will lead the government’s prosecution in the case.

Despite the gravity of his charges, Porcher remains on bond pending sentencing. His actions were part of a larger investigation conducted by the Safe Streets Task Force, an initiative involving multiple agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pa. Attorney General’s Office, and local police departments.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in our communities and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to dismantle such criminal operations.
