Wheeling Man Sentenced for Selling Cocaine
A Wheeling man has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for selling cocaine near a protected location.
Lorenzo Clark, 40, also known as “Renny,” pleaded guilty in November 2020 to one count of “Distribution of Cocaine Base within 1000 feet of a Protected Location.”
According to court documents, Clark admitted to selling cocaine near the Hil-Dar housing complex in Ohio County in May 2020.
The case was investigated by the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative that includes the Drug Enforcement Administration, West Virginia State Police, Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wheeling Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn M. Adkins prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the sentencing hearing.
Clark’s guilty plea was a significant blow to the local community, where the sale of narcotics has been a long-standing concern.
The sentencing of Clark serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit activities, and we hope it will serve as a deterrent to others who would consider similar actions.
