Kevin Allen Jr. of Buffalo, NY, is facing federal charges after allegedly ramming two U.S. Deputy Marshals’ vehicles during a fugitive pursuit on Kilhoffer Street. The incident, which occurred on November 1, 2016, has now led to a federal indictment charging Allen with assaulting federal officers and damaging government property.
According to the indictment and a prior criminal complaint, Allen, a wanted fugitive at the time, refused to stop when approached by law enforcement. Instead of complying with the traffic stop, Allen accelerated and deliberately crashed into the vehicles operated by the Deputy Marshals. The force of the impact caused extensive damage to both government vehicles.
Luckily, neither Deputy Marshal sustained physical injuries during the violent encounter. However, the deliberate nature of the attack on federal agents has elevated the case to a serious federal offense. Investigators say the actions posed a significant risk to the officers’ lives and disrupted federal operations.
The U.S. Marshals Service, under the direction of Marshal Charles Salina, led the investigation that culminated in the grand jury’s decision to indict. Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser is prosecuting the case, emphasizing that attacks on federal officers will be met with maximum legal consequences.
If convicted, Kevin Allen Jr. faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charges stem solely from the November 2016 incident and reflect the federal government’s hard-line stance on violence against law enforcement personnel.
The fact that Kevin Allen Jr. has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation. He is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law. The case continues to move through the federal judicial system in Buffalo.
