Viquesney Pleads Guilty

A 21-year-old registered sex offender from Kansas City, Kan., has pleaded guilty to picking up a 16-year-old girl in Virginia and taking her across state lines to have sex with him, according to U.S. Attorney Tom Beall.

Logan Viquesney pleaded guilty to one count of interstate transportation of a minor to engage in sexual activity. In his plea, he admitted to communicating with the victim over the internet while she was staying with her grandparents in Virginia.

On May 30, 2016, the victim was reported missing from her grandparents’ home. Investigators learned that Viquesney had driven to Virginia, picked up the girl, and taken her with him on a trip that took them from Virginia to Maryland, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. While on the trip, Viquesney had sex with the girl.

Viquesney was arrested after he arrived in Kansas City, Kan., with the girl. He was taken into custody and charged with the federal crime. The investigation was led by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department, the Lenexa Police Department, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the FBI and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Flannigan.

Sentencing is set for July 31. Both parties have agreed to recommend a sentence of 15 years in federal prison. U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the agencies involved for their work on the case, saying that their efforts helped bring Viquesney to justice.

The guilty plea is a significant development in the case, and it highlights the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to combat sex crimes. The fact that Viquesney was a registered sex offender and still managed to commit this crime raises concerns about the effectiveness of the current system in place to monitor and track sex offenders.

The case also raises awareness about the dangers of online predators and the importance of parents and guardians being vigilant about their children’s online activities. The victim in this case was communicating with Viquesney over the internet, and it ultimately led to her being taken across state lines and exploited.
