New Haven Drug Kingpin Pleads Guilty to Gun Possession

New Haven’s TREA FRASER, 27, a drug kingpin whose reign of terror has gripped the city, pleaded guilty yesterday to possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The plea comes after an extensive FBI investigation that revealed Fraser’s involvement in the illegal narcotics trade.

According to court documents and statements made in court, the FBI New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force and the West Haven Police Department had been scrutinizing Fraser’s activities since 2020. Over a period of several months, investigators purchased crack cocaine from Fraser on controlled buys. The evidence mounted as they discovered drugs, cash, and a firearm at Fraser’s residence.

On February 9, 2021, the situation escalated when a search warrant revealed quantities of crack cocaine and heroin, ammunition, and $3,900 in cash in Fraser’s home. His vehicle held approximately 100 grams of cocaine and a loaded .45 caliber Glock 41 handgun.

Judge Michael P. Shea has scheduled sentencing for February 11, 2022, where Fraser faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years and a maximum term of life imprisonment. Fraser remains detained since his arrest on March 1, 2021.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through comprehensive solutions and enforcement efforts against the most violent offenders. The FBI New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force and the West Haven Police Department are leading the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Konstantin Lantsman handling the prosecution.

The grim reality of drug trafficking in New Haven is a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against crime. Fraser’s guilty plea underscores the commitment to justice and the relentless pursuit of those who threaten communities through violence and illegal activities.
