Demarcus Foy, Methamphetamine Distribution, Iowa 2021

Fort Dodge, Iowa’s Demarcus Foy, 31, has admitted his guilt in a federal courtroom for his role in a massive methamphetamine distribution ring. The grim details of the crime emerged on November 18, 2021, as Foy stood before United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand to face the charges against him.

Foy, who was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and another for actual distribution, confessed that he and his co-conspirators had trafficked over 45 kilograms of the illegal substance from April 2015 until at least June 2020. On four separate occasions in 2019, Foy distributed more than 100 grams of pure meth to law enforcement informants, furthering his reign of drug dealing terror.

His method was brazen: receiving up to ten pounds of meth at a time from sources and then selling it off. The scale of the operation is staggering, with Foy’s source providing enough to fill several backpacks at once.

Now, Foy awaits sentencing, which will be determined after a comprehensive presentence report is completed by the court. He remains in custody of the United States Marshal Service and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, with a potential for life. A fine of $10 million looms, along with at least 5 years of supervised release post-imprisonment.

The case against Foy was spearheaded by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, local law enforcement agencies in Fort Dodge, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Laboratory.
