A brazen thief used stolen identities to swindle $75,000 in Medicaid, SNAP, and unemployment benefits over a decade, authorities say.

Jesus Matos Perez, a 52-year-old Dominican national, pleaded guilty to the scheme, which spanned 10 years, in federal court in Providence.

Matos Perez was taken into custody on October 1, 2025, after authorities discovered the elaborate scam, which involved the use of stolen dates of birth and Social Security numbers.

According to court documents, Matos Perez claimed the benefits under the identities of two American citizens, raking in a combined total of $75,000 in government aid.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational crime.
