A Cuban national with a taste for big-time cocaine smuggling got 10 years behind bars in New Orleans federal court.
Yaidel Placido Salvador, 40, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute multiple kilograms of cocaine in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
According to court documents, Salvador and his crew brought in kilogram quantities of the white stuff into the region as part of their multi-kilo operation.
The Homeland Security Task Force, a whole-of-government initiative, spearheaded the investigation and prosecution.
HSTF agents from the DEA, FBI, and ATF worked together to identify, investigate, and prosecute Salvador and his crew.
The Cuban national was sentenced to 120 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.
