RAPID CITY – Chad Doyle Jr., 22, of Wanblee, South Dakota, will spend the next 15 months behind bars for his role in assaulting a federal officer.
On May 17, 2024, U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier handed down the sentence after Doyle pleaded guilty to one count of Assault on a Federal Officer in March 2024. The assault occurred in December 2023 when Doyle kicked and attempted to punch a patrol officer with the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office due to the officer’s federal law enforcement status. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Lindrooth led the prosecution.
The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety investigated the case, which stemmed from Doyle’s brazen attack on the officer. Doyle was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following his sentencing.
As part of his sentence, Doyle was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. He will also serve three years of supervised release after his prison term is completed.
This case serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers every day. The assault on the officer was a senseless act of violence that will have consequences for Doyle.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to prioritize the prosecution of individuals who assault and harm federal officers. The safety and well-being of our law enforcement personnel is of the utmost importance.
