Ohio Doc’s Sinister Lie Lands Him in Hot Water

**Naturalization Fraud: Former Medical Doctor Caught Lying to Get US Citizenship**

CLEVELAND, OHIO – In a shocking turn of events, a former medical doctor has been charged with naturalization fraud for allegedly lying on his application to become a US citizen. Yousif Abdulraouf Alhallaq, 46, of Canton, Ohio, is accused of providing false answers on his application and during an in-person interview, which ultimately led to his naturalization in 2018.

According to the indictment, Alhallaq was born in Kuwait but was a Jordanian citizen at the time he entered the United States on an H1B visa in 2006. He became a permanent resident in 2011 and worked as a medical doctor in Northeast Ohio. However, in 2014, Alhallaq was indicted in the Stark County Court of Common Pleas for attempting to murder a pregnant woman and her unborn child. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison.

But that wasn’t enough to stop Alhallaq from trying to deceive the US immigration system. In 2017, he mailed in a federal application to become a naturalized US citizen, answering “no” to questions about his involvement in killing or trying to kill someone, and committing or attempting to commit a crime. During an interview with an immigration officer in 2018, Alhallaq verbally confirmed these answers, despite knowing that he had committed a heinous crime just four years earlier.

The grand jury charges that Alhallaq’s actions were a clear attempt to deceive the US immigration system and gain US citizenship through deceit. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison. An indictment is merely an allegation, and Alhallaq is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The investigation was conducted by US Citizenship and Immigration Services and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by Matthew W. Shepherd for the Northern District of Ohio.
