Pringles & Pistols: Khyri Brown Gets 10+ Years

ATLANTA – Khyri Deandre Brown, 28, of Dallas, Ga., is headed to federal prison for a brazen November 2023 crime spree that saw him attempt to rob four banks and successfully pilfer cash from one. Brown was sentenced to ten years and five months behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to multiple federal charges.

The feds say Brown’s method was as ridiculous as it was dangerous: repeatedly threatening bank employees and customers with what appeared to be a firearm – often displayed from within the confines of a Pringles potato chip can. U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg hammered the point home, stating the case “exemplifies how law enforcement partnerships facilitate the successful prosecutions of dangerous offenders.”

The attempted robberies began November 17th at a Wells Fargo in Hampton, Georgia, where Brown brandished the Pringles can but fled empty-handed. The next day, at a Truist Bank in Atlanta, he escalated, pulling a gun and demanding money, but again failed to obtain any funds. Attempts continued on November 22nd at a Marietta Truist and November 27th at a Fifth Third Bank. It was at the Fifth Third that Brown finally succeeded, grabbing cash from a teller and stashing it inside – you guessed it – a green Pringles can before making his escape.

The reign of terror ended November 29th when officers with the Dallas Police Department pulled Brown over in Paulding County, Georgia. A search of the vehicle yielded a significant amount of cash, the telltale Pringles can on the passenger floor, and the firearm on the rear floorboard. The collaborative effort of multiple agencies – including the FBI, Atlanta Police, Cobb County Police, Lovejoy Police, and Marietta Police – was crucial in bringing Brown to justice, according to FBI Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown.

Brown ultimately pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted bank robbery, one count of armed bank robbery, one count of attempted armed bank robbery, and one count of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Geraghty delivered the sentence on June 30, 2025, effectively taking a dangerous offender off the streets. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Benjamin Wylly and McClellon D. Cox, III, prosecuted the case.
