Roosevelt Cockheran, Cocaine Conspiracy, Louisiana 2025

New Orleans, LA – Roosevelt Cockheran, 41, of Metairie, Louisiana, faced justice on June 26, 2025, as United States District Judge Susie Morgan sentenced him to 262 months for federal drug and gun offenses.

Cockheran was found guilty of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Unlawful Use of a Communications Facility to Further Drug Trafficking, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The sentences for these crimes were ordered to run concurrently.

Arrested by Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) deputies, Cockheran was caught with cocaine, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. His cell phone contained evidence of his drug trafficking activities, establishing him as the source for local Jefferson Parish traffickers.

This sentence comes under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. Assistant United States Attorney Mark A. Miller prosecuted the case, which was investigated by ATF and JPSO.

Cockheran’s arrest followed a coordinated effort to bring down drug traffickers in the region. Three others have also pleaded guilty in this investigation.

With this sentence, Cockheran will serve a lengthy term before returning to supervised release for an additional eight years.
