Gray Faces Bank Robbery Charges in El Dorado

WICHITA, KAN. – A brazen daylight robbery at Community National Bank & Trust in El Dorado, Kansas, has landed Darrel D. Gray, 65, of Benton, in federal hot water. A federal grand jury returned an indictment this week charging Gray with the July 2025 heist.

According to court documents unsealed today, Gray allegedly used “force, violence, and intimidation” to relieve the bank of an undisclosed amount of cash. The FBI is leading the investigation, refusing to comment on whether any weapons were brandished during the commission of the crime. Locals described a scene of panic as Gray made off with the loot, leaving tell-tale signs of a desperate act.

This isn’t an isolated incident of criminal activity sweeping across the Sunflower State. Federal prosecutors are also pursuing charges against Daquinton Baker, 23, of Wichita, who stands accused of possession of a firearm as a prohibited person. The ATF is handling that case. Meanwhile, Javier Estrada, 26, of Wichita, is facing the music for escaping custody, investigated by the U.S. Marshal Service.

The feds are also cracking down on the drug trade. Martin Alberto Guerra, 31, of Kansas City, Kansas, has been indicted on one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a case spearheaded by the DEA. Adding to the list is Ruben Franco Peralta, 28, a Mexican national illegally residing in Kismet, charged with possession of a firearm while unlawfully present in the United States – another ATF investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ola Odeyemi will be leading the prosecution against Gray and Guerra, while Katie Andrusak and Matt Treaster will handle the Baker case. Treaster is also assigned to the Estrada matter, and Larry Fadler is prosecuting Peralta. The sheer volume of indictments suggests a heightened focus on federal crime in Kansas.

It’s crucial to remember that an indictment is not a conviction. All defendants – Gray, Baker, Estrada, Guerra, and Peralta – are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. But the evidence presented to the grand jury suggests a serious pattern of criminal behavior that authorities are determined to address.
