CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Another West Virginia street thug is off the streets. Michael David Enoch, 33, of Parkersburg, was sentenced today to five years and 10 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for the simple act of being a felon illegally packing heat. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin, a clear message that federal authorities aren’t playing games when it comes to firearms and repeat offenders.
The bust went down December 15, 2024, on a Parkersburg street. Cops were already looking for Enoch, alerted to an active warrant for his arrest. When Enoch made a move for his waistband, officers weren’t taking any chances. They intervened, recovering a Taurus model PT111 G2 9mm semiautomatic pistol – conveniently tucked away. It wasn’t a surprise to law enforcement; Enoch knew he wasn’t supposed to have it.
Court documents detail a lengthy rap sheet that already disqualified Enoch from owning a firearm. Back on February 25, 2019, in Wood County Circuit Court, he’d racked up felony convictions for wanton endangerment involving a firearm, escape, and receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle. This wasn’t a first offense, and Enoch was fully aware of the legal consequences. Yet, he gambled anyway, adding another layer to his criminal profile.
But the gun charge is just the tip of the iceberg. Enoch’s history is riddled with convictions for battery, domestic battery, fleeing from an officer, battery on a government representative, and violating a protective order. This isn’t a case of a first-time mistake; it’s a pattern of disregard for the law and a clear threat to public safety. The feds are sending a message: repeat offenders will face the full weight of the law.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentencing, praising the work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Parkersburg Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jeremy B. Wolfe prosecuted the case. This case falls under the umbrella of “Operation Take Back America,” a nationwide initiative aimed at dismantling cartels and tackling violent crime – though how a single handgun in Parkersburg fits into that grand scheme remains to be seen.

One less gun on the streets, one more reminder that in this country, actions have consequences – especially when they involve firearms and a lengthy criminal record.
