Louisiana Woman Sentenced for Auto Dealership Fraud Scheme

GRIMY NEWS: A sinister plot to steal identities and purchase vehicles has culminated in a federal conviction for Anna Waldei, 27, from New Orleans.

In a grim turn of events, Waldei was sentenced today to 12 months and one day in federal prison. She is one of five defendants charged with orchestrating a scheme that exploited the identities of unsuspecting citizens to finance costly vehicles in the Jackson metro area.

The fraudulent conspiracy, which began in June 2023, involved Waldei and her cohorts: Paul Anthony Robinson, Sarah Elizabeth Calderon, Joshanique Elouise Bailey, and David L. Jones, Jr. They targeted credit-worthy individuals, falsified their identities, and posed as them to secure financing at local dealerships.

According to court documents, the gang traveled across state lines in a rented vehicle. Waldei pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud on March 27, 2025. Her partners received sentences ranging from probation to over three years in prison.

Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon, U.S. Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Patrick Davis, and Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the sentencing. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Cyber Fraud Task Force, involving both the Secret Service and the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly T. Purdie prosecuted the case with determination, ensuring justice for the victims of this brazen fraud conspiracy.
