Bridgeport, CT – A towering figure in the Hartford underworld has been dismantled. Joshua Roman, 33, the former president of the Loose Cannonz motorcycle club, was today sentenced to 72 months in federal prison for his role in a massive drug trafficking operation that funneled fentanyl and cocaine across Connecticut.
According to United States Attorney David X. Sullivan for the District of Connecticut, Roman’s sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill. The sentence includes four years of supervised release following his prison term.
The DEA’s Hartford Task Force launched its investigation in July 2022 after uncovering a vast network distributing kilograms of fentanyl and cocaine. Their probe included wiretaps, surveillance, and controlled purchases of narcotics. Roman was identified as the president of the Loose Cannonz, brokering transactions involving dangerous quantities of the deadly substances.
On May 18, 2023, investigators executed a controlled purchase from Roman, securing approximately 100 grams of fentanyl. Just over a month later, on June 7, Roman was arrested at his Hartford residence with 50 grams of fentanyl in his possession. A subsequent search of the Loose Cannonz clubhouse uncovered an additional 50 grams.
Roman pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl on May 5, 2025. He is now free on a $100,000 bond, but must report to prison by October 22.
This case was a collaborative effort between the DEA’s Hartford Task Force, the FBI, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The investigation involved personnel from various local police departments and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Reed Durham and Robert Dearington under the OCDETF Program.
