KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The grimy streets of Missouri witnessed a hard-hitting sentence today as Kareem M. Strong, 34, from Ashburn, Va., was sentenced to a decade behind bars for his involvement in a significant cocaine trafficking operation.
Strong was found guilty of illegally possessing over a kilogram of cocaine while en route from Nevada to Virginia. The drug kingpin was caught with a backpack containing a brick of white powder stamped with the iconic “ROLEX” logo, which turned out to be 1,004.73 grams of cocaine in its salt form.
The bust occurred on December 13, 2023, at a Kansas City bus station. Strong and an accomplice were apprehended by members of the interdiction task force after being flagged for suspicious activity. The brick was promptly submitted to the Kansas City Police Crime Laboratory for testing, confirming its lethal cargo.
U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes meted out a 10-year federal prison term without parole to Strong for possessing cocaine with intent to distribute. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad K. Kavanaugh handled the prosecution, while the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department collaborated on the investigation.
This sentence serves as a stark reminder of the deadly consequences associated with drug trafficking across state lines. The justice system has once again sent a strong message that such activities will not be tolerated in the United States.
