NJ Man Charged with Grooming Child and Drug Distribution

New Haven, CT – A federal grand jury has indicted Miguel Francisco Guzman, 30, of Woodbridge, New Jersey, for child exploitation and drug distribution offenses. Guzman is accused of enticing a minor under the age of 13 in Connecticut to engage in sexual activity and providing cocaine.

According to court documents, Guzman began messaging with the victim on Snapchat in March 2025. He solicited and sent sexually explicit images to the child and traveled to Connecticut to meet them. The investigation also revealed Guzman attempted to solicit images from other minors online.

Guzman appeared in court today, pleading not guilty and was ordered detained. He faces life imprisonment on one count of enticement of a minor, 40 years for distribution of a controlled substance, and a mandatory minimum of 10 years for attempted enticement of a minor.

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI with assistance from local police in Connecticut and the Woodbridge Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine E. Boyles is prosecuting the case under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative.

U.S. Attorney Sullivan reminds us that an indictment does not prove guilt; charges are merely allegations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
