Nine Charged with Marijuana Trafficking and Money Laundering in Ohio

Nine people have been indicted in federal court for their roles in a conspiracy to launder more than $2 million in drug profits stemming from the shipment of approximately one ton of marijuana from California to warehouses in Wickliffe, Willoughby, and Euclid.

The indictment alleges that Aaron L. Eisenberg, 39, of California and formerly of Lake County, and eight others used a commercial carrier to send pallets filled with packages of marijuana from California to warehouses in Northeast Ohio. The packages were then distributed throughout the region.

According to the indictment, Eisenberg and his co-conspirators used a commercial carrier called Specialized Transportation Inc. (STI) to send the pallets, which were labeled as computer parts and/or with names of companies that did not exist. The indictment also alleges that the group used a complex system of transfers and concealment to launder the money.

Teachout is also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, as he was found with multiple guns, including a Bushmaster AR-15 and an AK-47, despite a previous conviction for marijuana trafficking.

The indictment charges the nine defendants with engaging in a money laundering conspiracy, while Eisenberg, Morgan, Jacob Lesiak, Garcia, Baldwin, Warren, and Teachout are also charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Two additional people, Corrie Lesiak and Cynthia Hounshell, have been indicted on related money laundering charges. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron P. Howell following an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration, Lake County Narcotics, and Geauga County Narcotics.

An indictment is only a charge, and the defendants are entitled to a fair trial in which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
