GREENBELT, MD — The grimy streets of Accokeek, Maryland have been cleared of a dangerous drug dealer as OJ Rashad Green, 36, also known as ‘Ice,’ was sentenced to nine years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl.
District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow handed down the sentence during a proceeding that saw U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, Kelly O. Hayes, Special Agent in Charge Christopher C. Goumenis of the DEA, Commissioner Richard Worley of the Baltimore Police Department, and Secretary Carolyn J. Scruggs of the Maryland DPSCS stand united against drug crime.
Green was convicted following a six-day trial that concluded earlier this year. The jury found him guilty of knowingly distributing fentanyl on four separate occasions within Accokeek’s boundaries. Evidence presented at trial indicated Green distributed the deadly substance from his home in Accokeek between January 21, 2022, and September 28, 2022.
Law enforcement arrested Green after a series of controlled purchases that exposed his fentanyl distribution network. The DEA and Charles County Sheriff’s Office played pivotal roles in the investigation that led to Green’s downfall.
In court, federal prosecutors presented further evidence of Green’s widespread fentanyl distribution over several years, including details about his extensive network that exploited those struggling with addiction. Green was accused of using drug-dependent individuals as testers and runners for his illegal operations.
U.S. Attorney Hayes commended the DEA and Charles County Sheriff’s Office for their relentless pursuit of justice, while also thanking Assistant U.S. Attorneys Darren S. Gardner and Brooke Oki for their efforts in bringing Green to justice.
