MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a harsh crackdown on illegal firearms, JARED JAMES MOCK, 36, from Ada, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 36 months imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release for the possession of an unregistered firearm, specifically a sawed-off shotgun. The sentence was handed down by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The defendant, Mock, was charged with knowingly possessing a shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches in length, a violation of federal firearms laws. According to the indictment, this illegal firearm was not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. The offense occurred on or about December 10, 2015, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
This case stemmed from an extensive investigation by local law enforcement agencies including the Ada Police Department, the District 22 Drug Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The investigation led to Mock’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.
Presiding over the hearing was Honorable Ronald A. White, a District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, based in Muskogee. Mock will remain in custody pending transportation to the federal facility where his sentence will be served without parole.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris, who represented the United States in this high-profile case.
