COLUMBIA, S.C. — The grimy truth emerges as 40-year-old Adam Sloan of Jackson, Aiken County, is handed a federal prison sentence of more than 17 years for the production of child sexual abuse material.
In an international crackdown on the Dark Web’s dark corners, FBI agents zeroed in on Sloan for online fraud. During a home raid on April 18, 2023, they unearthed harrowing evidence. Sloan’s devices harbored images and videos depicting minors subjected to abuse by a hidden camera. The victims were at his home during birthday parties, pool parties, and sleepovers.
Sloan’s monstrous actions landed him before Senior United States District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie, who sentenced him to 210 months in federal prison. Life-long court supervision follows, with parole out of the question. Sloan was also ordered to pay $5,021 in restitution to a victim.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a justice department initiative tackling child sexual exploitation since 2006. The FBI Columbia Field Office and Aiken County Sheriff’s Office spearheaded the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lee Holmes and Dean H. Secor handling the prosecution.
Remember, ‘child pornography’ is evolving. The preferred term now is ‘child sexual abuse material,’ reflecting the heinous nature of these crimes. For more on Project Safe Childhood, visit their site.
