A 33-year-old man from New Mexico has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for sexually abusing a minor in Indian Country.
Alan Madalena, an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Jemez, was sentenced in federal court on October 7, 2021, for the crime.
According to court records, Madalena pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 15-year-old victim in his residence on the Pueblo of Jemez on four occasions between August 1, 2020, and October 15, 2020.
The victim, who is also an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Jemez, was known to Madalena at the time of the abuse.
Madalena’s sentence includes five years of supervised release and registration as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
The FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated the case with assistance from the Jemez Pueblo Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Elisa Dimas prosecuted the case.
