Albany Man Indicted for Child Pornography Crimes
A hard-hitting indictment has been handed down to 30-year-old Albany resident Stephen Brisee, also known as Sage Brisee, for his alleged role in distributing, receiving and possessing child pornography.
According to a statement from the Department of Justice, a criminal complaint filed earlier in the case alleges that Brisee distributed videos depicting adults sexually abusing girls as young as infants.
The charges in the indictment and complaint are mere accusations, and Brisee is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
If convicted on all charges, Brisee faces a minimum of 15 years and up to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life.
Additionally, Brisee may be ordered to forfeit the devices used to commit the crimes and to pay restitution to the victims. A defendant’s sentence is imposed by a judge based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.
Brisee has also been ordered detained pending trial, and the case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Reiner is prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood is a collaborative effort between the Department of Justice, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to identify and rescue victims of child exploitation and to bring perpetrators to justice.
The case against Brisee is a stark reminder of the dangers of child pornography and the importance of efforts like Project Safe Childhood in keeping our communities safe.
