An Albany man made off with an FBI ride in a brazen display of disregard for security, but his joyride was short-lived. Stephen Gullotti, 59, allegedly snuck onto FBI property and swiped an unlocked GMC truck from the Albany Field Office parking lot on the night of April 9, 2026.
With the keys to the vehicle in his grasp, Gullotti took the truck for a spin, driving it around the secure parking lot and attempting to leave the premises at 4:54 a.m. on April 10. His escape route was quickly cut short when security officers apprehended him and detained him.
The FBI’s Albany Field Office and the Albany PD worked together to investigate the incident, which serves as a stark reminder that federal operations will not be disrupted without consequences. ‘Those who attempt to disrupt federal operations or violate the security of our law enforcement partners will be met with immediate and decisive action,’ said First Assistant United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III.
Gullotti now faces a federal charge for theft, and his alleged unauthorized jaunt through the secure federal lot has ended with him facing the music in handcuffs.
