ST. LOUIS – In a chilling turn of events, Stanley E. Alford, 58, has admitted to the armed robbery of two businesses in St. Louis County, Missouri. The brazen criminal struck on Gravois Bluffs Boulevard in Fenton on Jan. 24, 2024, and again at a pawnshop in the 8100 block of Gravois Road just two days later.
During the first heist, Alford attempted to open the register for change but fled when denied. He returned with an item purchased earlier, only to pull a handgun and demand cash. The cashier was forced to stuff money into a bag and had her head pushed by the barrel of the gun.
In the second robbery, Alford targeted jewelry at the pawnshop. After pointing a firearm at an employee, he stole ten gold and diamond rings. Surveillance video, later released to the public, showed Alford’s escape in a vehicle registered to him, as well as evidence that he wore or had stolen goods.
Alford has been linked to the crimes through distinctive clothing and additional evidence gathered by law enforcement. The St. Louis County Police Department and the FBI worked tirelessly on the investigation that led to Alford’s capture.
Scheduled for sentencing on October 14, Alford faces a minimum of 14 years in prison with up to 20 years for the robbery charges and an additional seven years for brandishing a firearm. Assistant U.S. Attorney Zachary Bluestone is handling the prosecution.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the Department’s initiative to combat violent crime and gun violence in the community. The program, launched on May 26, 2021, focuses on fostering trust, supporting prevention efforts, strategic enforcement, and measuring results.
