SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – In a relentless pursuit of justice, Timothy E. Parker, a 29-year-old from Bolivar, Mo., was today sentenced to serve 48 months in federal prison for unlawfully possessing a stolen firearm. The U.S. District Court Judge Stephen R. Bough handed down the sentence, which will be followed by three years of supervised release.
Parker, who has a string of prior felony convictions including property damage, forgery, burglary, and resisting arrest, pleaded guilty on September 25, 2024, to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. His transgression was uncovered when Greene County, Mo., Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop his U-Haul van last year.
Instead of stopping, Parker tried to flee the scene. After a pursuit, he pulled over and was searched. Deputies discovered a loaded Taurus G3C pistol hidden in a chest sling holster. They also seized a backpack containing 50 rounds of ammunition, a Kydex-style gun holster, a lock picking set, and 2.42 grams of methamphetamine.
Records show that the pistol and holster had been reported stolen earlier that month. Parker’s arrest was yet another victory in the relentless war against violent crime and gun violence, part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at making neighborhoods safer.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Carney and investigated by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Parker’s sentence is a stark reminder that the law will not tolerate the possession of firearms by those with prior felony convictions.
Project Safe Neighborhoods, launched in May 2021, has been instrumental in reducing violent crime. It emphasizes fostering trust and legitimacy, supporting community-based organizations, setting focused enforcement priorities, and measuring results to ensure safer neighborhoods for all.
