A massive alien smuggling ring was busted in Oklahoma, with seven Guatemalans sentenced for working together to smuggle illegal aliens into the United States. The ringleader, Cidia Marleny Lima Lopez, conspired with others from October 2021 through April 2025 to conceal, harbor, and transport unlawful aliens from Guatemala, Mexico, and other countries in Central and South America, as well as Asia. The smuggling operation used social media to coordinate payment and transportation, with aliens being housed in Mexico before crossing the US-Mexico border and being concealed in stash houses across the US.
The indictment filed in April 2025 alleged that each alien would pay around $5,000 to be smuggled into the United States, with the money being deposited into bank accounts accessible to Cidia and others. The funds were then used to purchase vehicles and real estate property. Cidia forfeited three trucks and two ATVs seized during a search warrant in Oklahoma City, as well as two homes in Oklahoma.
The smuggling operation was vast, with aliens being transported to various stash houses in over 20 states, including Oklahoma, Alabama, Arizona, and California. The drivers would collect payment at Cidia’s direction and transport the aliens to their final destinations. The case was prosecuted by the Homeland Security Task Force, which worked to dismantle the smuggling ring and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The sentencing of the seven Guatemalans marks the end of the prosecution, but the impact of the alien smuggling ring will be felt for years to come. The use of social media and stash houses to facilitate the smuggling operation highlights the evolving nature of human trafficking and the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
