NEW ORLEANS – A notorious Honduran national, Alvaro Luis Alcerro-Banegas, has been brought to justice after being sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for re-entry of a removed alien, in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Sections 1326(a) and (b)(1).

According to court documents, Alvaro Luis Alcerro-Banegas, age 39, reentered the United States after being previously deported on September 2, 2022.

On March 2, 2024, Alvaro Luis Alcerro-Banegas came to the attention of Immigration and Customs Enforcement after his arrest by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Previously, on January 18, 2017, Alvaro Luis Alcerro-Banegas had been found guilty of illegal re-entry after deportation by the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, and was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison.
