Amber Heth, Meth Trafficking, South Dakota 2022

In a shocking case of methamphetamine trafficking, 34-year-old Amber Heth of Winner, South Dakota, was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for her role in a conspiracy to distribute the highly addictive substance.

According to court documents, Heth was involved in a conspiracy with others, including her sister, to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine in and around Winner, South Dakota.

The conviction stemmed from a federal grand jury indictment on December 8, 2020. Heth pled guilty to the charges on November 1, 2021.

U.S. Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced the sentencing, which took place on February 3, 2022, before Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange in U.S. District Court.

As part of her sentence, Heth was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100. She will serve three years of supervised release after her prison term.

The case was investigated by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.

Heth was immediately taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service following the sentencing.
