Raleigh, NC – In a shocking turn of events, a federal grand jury in Raleigh has returned indictments charging four aliens with immigration violations.
Angel Brito-Alvarez, 32, of Mexico, ELEAZAR GUTIERREZ-TORRES, 28, of Mexico, OSCAR GEOVANI OLIVERA-HERNANDEZ, 23, of Honduras, and GILBERTO ORDUNO-BUSTAMANTE, 38, of Mexico, have all been charged with Illegal Reentry of a Deported Alien.
If convicted, GUTIERREZ-TORRES and OLIVERA-HERNANDEZ would face maximum penalties of two years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and a term of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
ORDUNO-BUSTAMANTE, however, faces a stiffer penalty, with a maximum imprisonment term of ten years. This is due to his alleged previous deportation subsequent to a felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance.
Meanwhile, BRITO-ALVAREZ faces a maximum imprisonment term of twenty years. His alleged previous deportation was subsequent to an aggravated felony conviction for conspiracy to traffic in methamphetamine.
The charges and allegations contained in the indictments are merely accusations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The cases are being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, specifically, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations.
